Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul – IOC Member

BWF Council member, Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul was elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the 131st IOC session in Lima on Friday, 15th September (see IOC announcement).

Khunying Patama joins other members of the badminton family who have received this prestigious honour – the BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer (an IOC member since 2014), Vice President Dagmawit Girmay Berhane (since 2015), former Council member, Li Lingwei (since 2012) and former BWF President and Honorary Life Vice President Sir Craig Reedie (since 1994).

Khunying Patama is the Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) president and is the first Thai women to have received this honour and the fourth Thai national (see Khunying Patama’s IOC profile).

Khunying Patama was among eight new members who were elected in Lima bringing the total of elected IOC members now to 102.
